So basicly i had a world that i worked on for a couple of months, then came the update of 1.7.2, i played with that version for 3 days and then my world disappeared, when i checked the "saves" folder it was there, so i restarted my game and computer a couple of times and nothing happened, i still cant see my world in-game, i loaded the world in MC Edit and most of the chunks disappeared, the chunks that were still there did not have the blocks that i have put down. So i sent my world to my friend, he also could not see it in-game, that happened with every new world that i created, i reinstalled the game and its still the same, pls help!
Things like this have happened to me before.... I think it's just a glitch, your world is corrupted though, I doubt you can fix it, sorry...
Also, if a world is really important to you, make a backup every other day so if you do something by accident, your backup is there.
Probably the best you can do to keep your worlds is make a copy and save it somewhere. I usually do this whenever i finish a big project. Also, if you didnt play on it in 1.6.4, that might be why. Try getting onto that world in 1.6.2 or 1.6.4.

MEH REDSTONE IS TOO MUCH FOR YOUR BRAIN TO HANDLE. IT'S OVER 9000!!
Try replacing the level.dat file with one from another world; you will lose your inventory* but the game should recognize it as a world (show up in the menu). if you still have the seed, just make a new world with that seed and copy the file over. Of course chunks may also be corrupted, which is harder to fix but it might just be level.dat that is the problem.
*It is possible to copy your inventory from player.dat (replace player with your username) in the players folder to level.dat using an NBT editor, as long as it is intact, if you had stuff that you really want back (or just cheat them in; open to LAN and enable cheats if necessary).
Also, you say that it happens with every world you try to create, as if they are corrupted from the get-go (make a new world, then the next time you play it is gone/corrupted?), even after reinstalling the game. If that is the case, you might want to do a checkup of your computer, for example, test the RAM and hard drive since errors can cause corrupted files.
Well i changed the level.dat file and my game saw the world but when i loaded it i got a random world, it was just a forest, i killed myself and then i was at a different location, the world was the same as when i loaded it but most of the chunks were there, but they were at least 20 blocks down (same biome, same terrain but lowered).
Is there any way that it might be because of my graphic card, i really need to get a new one, its not weak but its old...Tnx for the help
I'm getting more RAM and a new graphic card in a week and i'll install windows 7 and see if anything is changed...

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
