LAN not working?

I got a new laptop for Christmas. I opened up Minecraft a made a LAN world for and my brother and me. He got these errors:
Connection timed out: connect
java.net.connectexception: Connection timed out: no further info
java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: no further information: /192.168.1.102:50

I am on a laptop, and he is on a desktop. i am using WiFi. Is there anyway to fix this?
