All right, so, I really need help here. Just got a brand new Macbook Air and have been getting it set up. It's decently fast (as in, really fast) and until I started up my old singleplayer map I thought the thing was amazing. (Okay, I still think that)
The thing is, I'm getting some REALLY weird (and annoying) lag and I would really like to fix it.
Basically, I'm getting server/internet lag offline. I.E. chests take ~long time to open, messages appear in chat 20 seconds after they're sent... sometimes it spikes for an extremely long time. Blocks reappear... and so on and so forth. Throughout all of this my computer still runs fast on full graphical settings at around 40-60FPS. So the problem isn't really of the computer... it's something else.
I have tested for the cause in many ways, including allocating more RAM to Minecraft (3GB didn't help), lowering graphical settings (made little or no change), and reinstalling minecraft. I have also tested this on completely freshly generated worlds.
The only place/time I don't get this bug is when I'm on any server - sometimes maybe, but it's usually genuine server lag then.
This is the second time I've tried to post this - the log gets extremely long, and apparently my first time it was too long. I'm only going to post a portion of it this time, but keep in mind this goes on forever.
That's just a small portion; scrolling through the entire log takes forever.
I am running Mavericks on a Macbook Air. PC or Mac related help is greatly appreciated. I did try to install Java 7 Build 45 but while the install does work (their website says it did) Minecraft is still apparently booting with the old Java.
Are you experiencing this on one specific world only? Create a new one and check, if it does, then it's corrupt entities or chunks.
If your world got corrupted you can try to repair it with MCEdit. Open the offending world in MCEdit, press 'ctrl-i' and select 'Repair regions' in the dialogue which pops up. Once this has completed, save your world and exit MCEdit.
In order to remove entities from a map, follow these steps. Warning: This will delete any and all entities in the selected region, including tamed animals!
Open the map in MCEdit, select the affected region or use CTRL-A to select the whole world, then click on 'Delete Entities' in the menu on the left hand side.
To download MCEdit, go to http://www.mcedit.net/ and choose the version appropriate for your OS.

All right, thanks for the help. I generated a new world a day ago to test this myself - it got the same lag after a little bit. Really strange. I will try what you suggested.
