When I press enter in chat, It's supposed to show up in the corner, right? Even on Multiplayer servers, chat wont show up. But it mostly bothers me when I'm in single player and i'm trying out a new command and it doesn't work, and I want to check if I spelled something wrong. Commands work fine too. Like, when I do the Day/Night command, it works. I've checked this problem out on my desktop, too, and the chat shows up fine. It's a brand-new HP Windows 8 Laptop. I've tried searching up this problem on Google and came up with nothing, so I thought my only option was to post something here. It'd really help if anybody could solve this for me.

There's an option for chat that can make chat be visible, hidden, or just commands. Your chat might be on "Commands Only"

Click "Options" at the title menu,then click "Multiplayer Settings". The chat option is there.

I checked that, but my chat was already on "Shown". I also went onto one of my worlds to see if anything changed, but nothing. Still the same. I really appreciate your help, though

Could you tell me how to get to .minecraft directory? And would this delete my skins?

To get at Minecraft's locally stored files using the launcher, start the launcher. Press Edit Profile, then Open Game Dir.

Your skins is stored on the skin servers. It won't be affected.
