Approximately 2 minutes ago I was playing minecraft with my friend and I left to get water. I closed out Minecraft.
When I came back, the only option was to play offline. Are the servers down?

According to https://help.mojang.com/ the servers are not down for everyone. However there may be a problem that's more complicated to find and I'm too lazy to specifically search out.
Seems like a lot of popular games are having trouble right now. At least, what I've seen...
Earlier today a TF2 server I was playing on went down. It may have just been the server, or it could have been bigger; I'm not sure.
It does not let me play either :c It says Sorry we couldn't connect to our servers please make sure that you are online and that Minecraft is not blocked D: Minecraft isnt blocked cause i was on it earlier today ._. It doesnt even give me the option to play offline.
It isn't working for me either I tried signing out it let me now I can even sign in I tried restarting my computer nothing, so does anyone know when then will be back up
Mostly for the new years. It will go back up tommorow.. There is a way to play multiplayer BTW, I dont really liked cracked servers but thats all you can play now since they dont have the requirment to be online... sucks
Its a new type of DDOS that Derptrolling has recently been testing on games like minecraft he basicly doesn't even go pass the DDOS protection at all
It's not a "new type of DDOS". If you even looked at it, the chart is showing that the traffic doesn't get to trickle down to the child nodes because of the spikes going to the datacenters. Nothing new about that.
Two ways to "kill a child": kill a child, or kill the parent.

Wait, so my server host is lying?

Curse PremiumNo, it's just that they've really DDoS'd the datacenters (from my understanding).

It's just a normal DDoS and/or some DNS null routing. People have been doing it for years. jeven44 has no idea what he's talking about.
