got a new laptop for christmas, and thought I'd test it out by playing minecraft. Got the launcher to load, but once I'm signed in, I can't access the world I had already created on another computer.
Am I only supposed to be able to access a world depending on which computer I created it?
No you should be able to access it on any PC, what os are you using and is it different from old PC, can you access world on Old PC and if you can try putting it into a .zip or .rar file using something like winrar (trail but still works after trial LOL) and then transfer to your new laptop and unzip into your appdata which you can get to by windows key + r and typing %appdata% and going into the .minecraft folder
The world might be corrupted so try again and if it still doesnt work give me a yell and I will assist if I can

The OS on the old computer is Microsoft Vista. The new laptop is Windows 7. I can access it on the old computer, but not the new one.
As for zipping it up and transferring it, that did occur to me, however, I wouldn't know which files to zip up, and which ones to leave alone.
