Since 1.7.4 have started having crashes. Sometimes the game works for a while and then the screen will freeze, the mouse cursor appear and I get the "Java stopped working" error popup.

Please remove all prior versions of Java, reboot then grab the latest one found here,
http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

This error can also happen if you try to allocate more than 1.5GB of RAM to a 32-bit installation of Java.
