My minecraft client usually tells me I'm getting ~120-800 FPS, which means I'm at my monitor's maximum refresh rate. yet when I record it with fraps, the recorded footage somehow is a much higher quality than it was when I played the game. I tested the other settings. the recording framerate I get is usually more akin to the 40/50 FPS recordings. Does Fraps smooth out frames when rendering 60 FPS or is something wrong?
If it is smoothing, is there any way to get that type of frame smoothing into minecraft?

Well, I haven't heard of Fraps, but I know Minecraft doesn't have frame smoothing (Not in 1.6 anyway.) I'd try turning off mipmap (Sliding all the way to the left). However, Optifine does add frame smoothing, but you'll have to wait for it to update to 1.7. Third thing to try, Make sure Vsync is OFF. I don't even know why they added Vsync, it only causes problems.
