Try closing background applications that you do not need when playing Minecraft.
Also here are some programs that may help you reduce the lag of the game.
CCleaner (Fixes registry issues, which can make your computer slower) Gboost (Automactially closed applications that you may/may not need. Razer Game Booster (Can defrag your game and system, and also some minor tweaks like making not responding applications end faster) Advanced System Care or Tuneup Utilities (Both have many features which can help improve your overall system speed)
You can also disable the animations that Windows have which can improve your overall computer speed.
Start Menu, Right-click Computer, Properties, Advanced system settings, Performance Settings, Adjust for best performance. This will make your computer use very little graphics but the it won't look as good.
Running Minecraft at a lower resolution also helps depending on the graphics card. Integrated graphics cards doesn't really give you a noticeable performance boost if you run it at a lower resolution, however, dedicated graphics cards can give you a big performance boost if you decide to run it at a lower resolution.
