I purchased Minecraft for my son for xmas; unfortunately, the new launcher will not install on his laptop, so we have to use the old launcher which plays version 1.5.2
when I set up the account, I set it up with my email address and name and othert info since he is a minor (and it said to do so on the registration form), but put his username for "profile name" when setting up the account.
But since Mojang changed usernames to emails, when I log in to the old laucher, the username within the game is my email address and not the "profile name" that we set up for my son. and there does not seem to be a way to change the name within the game.
Or if someone could tell me why the new launcher won't install on his laptop, that would be awesome, too; seeing as I paid $30 expecting the software that I purchased to actually, you know, WORK, and there is pretty much zero tech support other than these forums.
