So, this is easy to explain: The launcher installed 1.7.4, but when i hit play, I see the mojang title, and it goes back to the launcher. It won't go to the normal menu. has this affected any of you, and if so, have any of you fixed it? help :c
EDIT: ok, the development console is here: http://pastebin.com/snF4VTjE
noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo :c I knew this day was coming, but I though I had at least half a year... How hard is it to update a graphics card on a laptop? is it even possible? damn it... I can run the snapshot of 1.7.4 just fine... Well, thanks anyway :/

It's impossible to switch a graphics card with a newer one for laptops, because they are built in to the motherboard. So you going to have to buy a newer computer, or play older versions of Minecraft.
If I understood what was posted in another thread, Mojang said that as of 1.7.4 Minecraft didn't change the required level of OpenGL support, but Minecraft will use new Open GL functionality that the driver claims that it supports.
So theoretically if a driver update now doesn't immedidately fix the problem, a future driver update could by either 1) fixing the driver to not crash 2) changing the driver not to claim support for things that it doesn't really.

Well... there is a way. I know this thread is old and I don't mean to necro, but I've been having this issue as well for the past few days and I've been searching forums everywhere to post this answer to help. I installed this mod and it ended up working like a charm for me.
