Do you mean it stays on the launcher screen? Click on the 'development console' tab, and copy/paste all of that here.
it opens up a new window that is just transparent, but i hear the minecraft start screen music and i i click on (where i think the buttons are) i hear them click, so that means that minecraft starts but i cant see it.........
i just got my new computer and i downloaded minecraft on it but when i click play it starts and just stays on a transparent window.
i run windows vista on my computer for now but soon i will upgrade it to windows 7.
i tried deleting the .minecraft folder and downloading it again but it did not work.
i am really sad now cause my new computer is a gamecomputer and i wanted to finaly play minecraft without lag......
i appreciate all support and i hope i can fix this.

i had to fix the compatible modes in properties, stupid me
