I recently got a Windows 8 Tablet PC (HP Split X2 to be exact) and I'm having issues running Minecraft. I'm trying to select a previously existing world just to get into it and start playing but it won't let me select any of them. Only the "Create New World" button at the bottom is highlighted and clickable so I can create endless amounts of new worlds but I can't get into any of the previous ones. I'm not terribly computer savvy but I've been finding through Googling that some of my previous issues were with Windows 8.1 and the Synaptics Clickpad settings where typing was disabling me from clicking or moving my mouse in any way via "Smartsense" and "Click Delay" settings. I think I have those cleared but I still can't click on the worlds in the Select World prompt. It seems like I can click on everything else but that. Is anyone else having this problem?
I'm having the exact same issue (new HP Pavillion x2 for christmas). I hope somebody comes to clear this up soon.
Deathmeter1, it seems like the issue with turning while running is caused by the "palm detection" feature. I turned that off and it fixed it... mostly. On mine I did that by going to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Synaptics Clickpad (settings) > Pointing > Smart Sense > Bring the scroll bar all the way to the left. Hope this helps!
Right, that's actually what I'm referring to. I have the same problem where the saved worlds appear on the screen, but I can't click on them. Somebody said that plugging in a mouse worked, so I thought that for some reason the game might detect the clicks for new worlds differently than for the other things (that we can click). Now that I think about it though, it could be that replacing the mouse only helped with that other issue.
Sorry for being unclear before, but there are some things that I (and I suspect OP as well) just can't click on. Saved worlds are the most obvious, but it seems like I can't click on any of the other things that come in lists, like the languages or resource packs, nor can I move the scroll bars on any of the options menus.
I believe this is all part of the same issue that's not allowing us to select existing worlds.
Anybody have any ideas?I do not have a mouse to plug in, so I can't be sure if that would actually resolve this issue.
I've tried touchscreen mode both on and off, doesn't seem to make a difference.
No luck with the properties. I'll see if any of my friends have an extra mouse in the next few days. Thanks for the help, hope they decide to get this cleared up though!
Totally remove the touchpad drivers, and use the windows native ones. (Then again, being Windows 8, there probably isn't any native drivers for it. :P)
Not sure about the specs, but it's an HP Pavillion x2, so it came as a detachable tablet with dock/keyboard/touchpad. I prefer to use it as a laptop, so I mostly don't use the touch screen. I have tried clicking on the games with the touch screen though, no luck.
I am having the same problem, I can make new worlds but not select old ones etc. I just got my laptop last week, it's a Dell running Windows 8.1. So there's no solution other than using a plugged in mouse? I'll try that I guess but it would be nice to at least know what actually is causing the problem. I don't know that much about computers I was really hoping someone had figured it out ....
