Since the 1.7.2 update (and continuing on through 1.7.4), my single player world has become unplayable. I get absolutely unbearable lag spikes which build up to the point to where i cant even move or pause my game for a good 8 or so seconds. Please do not suggest Optifine because i am happy with my fps when im not enduring a lag spike, and I dont believe Optifine can help prevent these lag spikes. I have all my video settings at their lowest quality, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling java, but nothing has worked. I do find it peculiar that i can play on my creative test world without any problems whatsoever and the same goes for severs. I have built the Iron Foundry by Tango Tek, but i doubt that caused any issues because it had been running gloriously producing mass amounts of iron and then one day while branch mining, i experienced these lag spikes and came up to find that my iron foundry was now broken and had become a village spawner/breeder. though any and all suggestions are welcome, I am really only looking for people with solutions from experience of this same problem. Thanks in advance.
Install more RAM. Makes Minecraft + any other games go crazy nasty fast.
Not true, minecraft uses the ram it needs, adding in 100 GB's of ram will not make minecraft any faster.
The only time minecraft will work better when adding ram is when your system has too little to begin with, or when using mods because they can take up more ram
Any update on this? I am having the same issue. I use dropbox to share my save file across multiple machines. Playing either single player mode or copying this world into a server I get the same unplayable lag.
I have tried this on both windows and macs. I have an iMac with 16gb of ram as well as a MacBookPro with 16gb of ram. Also tried on my Windows laptop.
I specify the java parameters to use 4gb of ram and pressing F3 I verify it allocated 4GB is is only using ~6% of the available ram even when lagging badly.
The lag occurs in 2 locations of my world consistently. One is a deep mine where I have a cave spider spawner, a nether portal, a potion brewing station, an enchantment table and anvil.
Above this mine is a village and nearby (but far enough away to count as a separate village) I have an iron foundry.
Next the iron foundry I built a really high mob farm using a timer to flood the pads and wash the mobs out so they fall to their death onto an array of hoppers that feeds a sorting mechanism.
The lag was present before I built the mob farm/sorting mechanism so I don't think they're relevant.
I first noticed the lag after building the potion brewing station. It is semi-auto where I have hoppers with the various components connected to droppers that will spit out a potion ingredient when I press a button. The ingredients flow via water to feed the brewing station. I just push buttons for the ingredients I want and it brews 3 of the desired potion. When I remove the potions water bottles automatically replace them.
What else can I check?
Thanks.
