Ever since the 1.7.4 updated, hostile mobs have not been spawning in my world. This is frustrating because I have a mob spawner that I use for experience. The weird thing is that whenever I try to restart the launcher and load the game, one skeleton and one zombie will spawn, but as soon as I kill them it goes back to nothing spawning at all. What can I do?
I don't think the problem is settings. He's been grinding XP with a mob spawner, and says "since 1.7.4" implying they did spawn properly before 1.7.4. Also, he said that one skeleton and one zombie would spawn, which wouldn't happen on Peaceful. (though I'd check my difficulty setting anyway, because I'm paranoid like that)
I have noticed something similar. I always play in Hard mode. When 1.7.2 came out, I created a new world, and one of the first things I did was build a dark room mob trap, and it was working extremely well. I went to another part of the world just before the release of 1.7.4, and I tried to build a smaller mob trap there using a different design. I noticed that it would generate a few mobs, then stop working so I figured it was just a flaw with my design. Today, I went back to my base and headed up to my big mob trap, and noticed that it was not working at all. I switched back to 1.7.2 and it starts working again.
Something has definitely changed. The question is if it is a bug, or an intentional change.

I'm encountering this as well since the 1.7.4 update. I get a small batch of hostiles upon startup, but nothing after that. I've tried Hard, Normal and Easy. No avail.
