I have a good computer that's well above the recommended specs but plays Minecraft like a sideshow. I've even tried allocating more RAM to Java, so don't suggest that.

750 gb Hard drive
MINECRAFT MINIMUM SPECS
1.6 ghz Multi-core CPU
1 gb RAM (I'm assuming ddr3)
Nvidia Geforce 256 GPU
Windows Xp
+80 mb hard drive
