I'm am completely stumped. It's been since November 6th since I last played Minecraft (I set up a home server when my daughter and I play, and always date the folder), and we were looking forward to playing a bit this morning. My daughter's account logged right in and she was up-and-running. I open Minecraft on my PC, and it prompted me to log in--something it has never done before (after the initial installation some time ago). I input my log-in information, and it begins downloading (green bar on the launcher). It completes this, I click on "Play" again, and it does the exact same thing. I go through this a few times, look at the console, and I see that I'm getting the above error. So... I research the error online, and I have done mostly everything I've seen suggested from deleting my .minecraft folder and reinstalling... no luck. Uninstalling/reinstalling Java... no luck. I finally uninstalled and reinstalled BOTH, and still no luck. I've even tried the console "ipconfig /dnspurge" and so-on... no luck.
The ONLY thing that I've done since the last time we played is update Java. About a week ago I was prompted to update Java while visiting a website, and so I imagine that could have done something. I have no idea.
Anyway--below is the console information. I posted it all the first time but it said my post was too long. Thus, I deleted most of it, but left the start and finish info, along with one server timeout error. Also--there were a couple of timeouts where it came back and said something to the effect of a local version of the file was found, and it was assumed to be okay. Any input would be GREATLY appreciated!
First, here are my PC stats:
Intel Core i7-3820 CPU
32 GB RAM
Dual GeForce GTX 550Ti Video Cards (SLI)
Windows 7 64-Bit OS
Oh--and I'm running the latest version of Java (release 45), and it should be the latest version of the Minecraft launcher (I just downloaded it to make sure I didn't have a corrupt copy).
Let me know if you need any other system info. Here is the info from the console:

UGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!! Okay--so I have done everything again and again. However, now when I try to run Minecraft, it won't even bring up the launcher... it brings up a window that says the following:

Any thoughts? I love the last line. I'll be happy to fix it... tell me how!!!!!! LOL!
Run the program, you will get a prompt, choose "I accept", then press "Do a scan and save a log file".
After a while a text file will open. Copy everything, put the log on http://gist.github.com/ and give us the link.
First, go to the Programs and Features in Control Panel (Add and Remove Programs on XP). Uninstall everything that says Java in the name. Then, go to http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp to re-install Java.

Thanks! To let you know, I have uninstalled (via Windows Program Manager) Java, and then reinstalled it directly from the Java website 3 or 4 times now. It hasn't done a thing. As for Antivirus, that's really odd. I had 1.7.2 up-and-running flawlessly;even the server. I guess it's possible that the Java update I did was somewhat blocked by the firewall making my Minecraft not operable.
I use eSET, and although I did disable the firewall on one attempt, and then changed the SSL settings (as noted on the sticky for this forum), neither worked. In fact, my second post in this forum was the direct result of changing the SSL settings, and that went away when I changed the SSL settings back to default. It's just tough for me because the program worked perfectly, and has ALWAYS worked perfectly, until recently.
I've done all of the above except for Hijack This. Let me give that a shot and upload the log file. Thanks!

Okay--I ran the software, and it literally took a fraction of a second to complete. Is that bad? Anyway, I created a private gist, but hopefully you can see it via the link:https://gist.github....83419c11c280769One thing it did do was tell me that the system would not allow write access to the host file in windows. It said I might need to change something manually, but I saw no prompt to do so after the scan. I did notice that it seems several files are missing.

FINALLY!!!!!!! Whatever you do, I WOULD NOT follow the advice in the sticky located in this forum if you use ESET as your antivirus. Messing with the SSL settings completely goofed up Java's ability to verify itself. Thus, all of the Java installs I was doing were not getting set up correctly. Thankfully this got worked out, and Minecraft is running like a champ again.

Any thoughts? I love the last line. I'll be happy to fix it... tell me how!!!!!! LOL!
Hi,
Yes, as said above it's probably an antivirus to blame.
Please do the following;
Trend Micro HijackThis is an utility that is used to collect diagnostic reports of your computer to help narrow down an issue you may be having.
First, download the file here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/hjt/
Run the program, you will get a prompt, choose "I accept", then press "Do a scan and save a log file".
After a while a text file will open. Copy everything, put the log on http://gist.github.com/ and give us the link.
Hi,
You need to reinstall Java.
First, go to the Programs and Features in Control Panel (Add and Remove Programs on XP). Uninstall everything that says Java in the name. Then, go to http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp to re-install Java.

Thanks for everyone's posts!
