I recently updated my Minecraft launcher. Unfortunately, no matter what I do I keep having a problem with the game flashing white for a split second every 3-5 seconds as though it were refreshing, yet it even happens before loading into the game on the main selection screen. I go to select a button, like changing a setting or while mining, and then when the screen flashes, it is as though I never clicked my mouse, and I end up having to reclick 2 to 4 times before I am able to select/mine something. I have already tried reinstalling my video drivers, reinstalling minecraft, and checking for errors. But I have yet to figure out why this is happening. I have even tried changing the video options before and in game settings with no change in frequency of flashing.
My Computer specs are as follows:
-OS = Windows 7 Ultamite
-CPU = AMD FX-8350 Eight Core Processor - 4.0+Ghz
-MB = Gigabyte 990 FXA-UD5
-RAM = 16Gb (4x4Gb-PNY XLR8 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 Desktop Memory)
-Storage = 128Gb Samsung SSD (current C: drive)
+1 64Gb Samsung SSD - +2 HDDs with two partitions on both of them.
-Graphics = NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 with 1Gb RAM
no mods.
Both windowed and fullscreen modes are effected.
I have usually have no other programs running aside from the ones needed for basic computer functions.
It is the newest version of minecraft, so I am guessing it is 1.7.2.
As I stated in my previous post, I can change the video settings in or out of game, but it still happens every 3-5 seconds and actually increases in frequency as I click the mouse more.
I will try your suggestion for checkmarking the "Enable experimental development versions (snapshots)" to see what happens.
I also intend to find a program to video record what is happening.
Ok, don't know what happened, but now it works fine. I did nothing other than what was previously tried. It is very slightly laggy, but not too noticeable. I think it might have been because I restarted the computer. But, I am not so sure it is completely fixed. I will have to try it to see if the problem is completely gone or subdued for the moment.
Windows and graphics can have weird problems if you haven't rebooted in a while.
I have two computers that periodically get in a mode where the screen blanks within a couple of seconds when you stop typing / mousing.
When this starts happening the only thing that stops it is a reboot. It's like the computer's timer for the idle timeout is foobar and constantly goes off starting the computer towards going to sleep.
Unfortunately, rebooting has no effect. I still have a problem with it. I have done all I can. I guess I will never be able to play minecraft on my computer ever. I used to be able to just fine, until around six months after I got it, which was almost three years ago. I ran into problems with it crashing, not having enough allocated memory, loading errors, and a problem later with it glitching while my character would move forward or place/remove blocks causing a speed issue, as if I were jumping really fast from one block to another a few blocks away or placing/removing blocks so fast I remove two or three instead of one. I have been trying to get this game to work on my computer for long enough. Maybe they will never find what is going on. I certainly have yet to.
