Today I was logging on to Minecraft as usual and as it was starting up it loaded the first half (of the green bar) in like like half a second and then after that the next 2 centimetres took 10 minutes and is still loading as I speak. This loading normally takes around half a second in total so 10 minutes is completely out of the ordinary for me. My internet isn't suffering, I can browse the web normally. I have tried to Google the answer to this but it hasn't come up with anything useful. Please help!!
I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my Grandfather... Not screaming in terror like his passengers.
The same past data can confirm a theory and its exact opposite! If you survive until tomorrow, it could mean that either a) you are more likely to be immortal or that you are closer to death.
It looks to me that they have added an indirection layer to all the minecraft assets. So you need to download all assets that ever were (all icons, sounds, then when you switch versions via the launcher it automagically chooses out the version of sounds you need.
This bulk download of all the assets could take a while if your internet connection is slow, and as someone else noted. It looked like the servers were overloaded for a while as well.
Your dev log has some inconsistencies, it shows bootstrap 4 is in use, when minecraft doesn't use that version, whereas unofficial launchers do.
Are you using the official launcher?
If so have you done a full delete of the .minecraft folder?
From my own dev console

The new launcher that was available from Mojang for download in July is bootstrap v4. (I have it sitting right next to a newer launcher that is bootstrap v5)

When the launcher updates itself it does not update the bootstrapper (which is the actual minecraft.exe that you have downloaded). To update the bootstrapper you actually have to download a new launcher from Mojang.
