Well, about every 2 weeks, this thing comes when I click to play MC so I check the development console, and it just is saying things about Job Resources assets and all sorts of weird things. Sometimes it will take up to 20 minutes just to get to play MC because of these stupid small updates. Is there a way to avoid this? Thanks!
If You Have Windows: Type %appdata% in your start menu search bar. Click on roaming. Open bin. Delete your minecraft.jar.
If this doesn't help delete the bin.
WARNING:DELETING YOUR BIN WILL REMOVE ALL SINGLEPLAYER DATA AND WORLDS AND SERVERS. IT WILL NOT REMOVE YOUR PLAYER DATA FROM THE SERVERS THOUGH.

So what would that do though? Because I dont want to delete everything.

This information is outdated as of 1.6. If you are playing 1.6 or 1.7, deleting the entire bin folder will do nothing. Even if you were using the 1.5 and earlier launcher, it would not delete your settings/SSP worlds/servers. Settings are stored in .minecraft/options.txt. SSP worlds are stored in .minecraft/saves/. servers are stored in .minecraft/servers.dat.

Hopefully you're running Windows, because I don't know where minecraft stores its data on a Mac or Linux. All the information here only applies to Windows.
What will help is resetting the jar file that minecraft runs from, and possibly the launcher. I am assuming you don't use any (legitimate) mods, as otherwise you would know exactly what he meant. What you should do (and the only thing that this would affect is any installed mods, which you probably don't have), is to delete your minecraft.exe and re-download it from minecraft.net. If this helps then your minecraft.exe was glitchy.
If you still have problems, open up Windows Explorer and type in %APPDATA% in the top bar. This will take you to the folder where a whole bunch of programs store their data. Go to roaming (if it's not shown skip this step), then .minecraft (this is where minecraft stores ALL its data), and finally versions. You probably are using the default configuration for MC, so in versions you'll probably only see 1.7.2. Go ahead and delete the entire folder. None of your saves or any of the settings/data you have stored on minecraft will be deleted. You won't be deleting any mods because MCP (minecraft coder pack) isn't even updated to 1.7.2 yet, so any legitimate mods are still waiting for MCP and Forge. Make sure minecraft (including the launcher) isn't running while you do this. Restart minecraft and hit play. It will recreate the 1.7.2 folder for you and you should be good to go.
If neither of these steps work then it is probably your internet simply being slow. All that I can help with for that is to suggest you change internet providers and/or move closer to a big city.

Recently Minecraft added a bunch of new music which was a large download. Besides that, the only thing you'll have to update between Minecraft version updates are launcher updates. If you want to avoid updating the launcher use a third-party launcher like MagicLauncher.

I dunno.... this happened to me too. It downloaded into the "objects" folder of the bin, making me think that some change has been sneaked in t the launcher. Anyway, the game at it's current state is very glitchy, so it's possibly a bug fix

Yea thats fine.
I dont have any mods, I'm using widows XP, and yea, my internet is not that great. But I assumed that the MC people would have actually considered the many people who have to wait for a long time due to not that great internet. I guess theres no way around this. :/
