Minecraft sound doesn't work! I tried going in to rescource packs, and it crashed.

I turned minecraft on, and the sound wouldn't play. I tried going into resource packs, but then the game crashes. I checked the minecraft file under application support, and there was nothing in the file, did I delete it?

Backup your saves, and delete your .Minecraft folder.
