Hello There, I've got a new one, I've done a lot of research and tried to find my exact issue, but I can't seem to find it.
I opened Minecraft and either tried to create my own world, or join a friends server, either way, I load into the game and the second I touch foot to the sand(cobblestone, dirt, you get the idea) my screen goes black and my computer instantly reboots itself. I tried opening the game in windowed mode and the same happened. I initially was trying to run Technic when this started happening but I then after many hours of troubleshooting, tried with a fresh install of Vanilla Minecraft and the same issue happened.
What have I tried so far you ask?
I have tried uninstalling java, reinstalling java, uninstalling old java versions, uninstalling minecraft, reinstalling minecraft, installing minecraft on my SSD, installing minecraft on my HD, I have updated my graphics drivers, I have uninstalled those drivers and tried as well. I have done all windows updates. I have tried opening in the game in compatibility mode. I have allocated more RAM to minecraft, I have allocated less RAM to minecraft. My bios is up to date. I tried 32 bit and 64 bit java.
I have run CPU-Z to make sure nothing hardware related is happening. HELLLLLLP. I have played minecraft for years with absolutely no issues, today, it says NOPE.
What are my computer specs you ask?
I have 8gb's of ram
I have an i5-2500k 3.2ghz
with a gtx 570
I don't believe I can acquire a crash dump report due to the fact that the comp instantly goes black screen (for about 1-2 seconds, and then immediately reboots itself)
Again, this happens with TechnicLauncher and Vanilla minecraft.
Then i would look at monitering your cpu/gpu temps etc, make sure its not a heat issue.
If all is fine with temps i would run memtest+ http://www.memtest.org/
Thanks for the quick reply! The computer is just instantly restarting, no freeze, no bsod, no lag, just automatically reboots. I have 0 issues with any other games, including java games. I already ran CPU-Z to check cpu/gpu temps and they are in the 30's.
I let the windows memory diagnostic test run and had no errors, at least. I'll run memtest when I'm not in need of my computer, but it doesn't seem like a RAM issue considering no issues with any other programs what-so-ever.
the windows test is pointless, its not indepth.
i used to get crashes on my pc but only when it happened to use a cetain memory location, was very hard to replicate and work out what it was, turned out my ram module in slot 4 had a dead space and when that was accessed it caused the computer to die.

Interesting indeed, I have extra RAM, I'll try that too when I'm not in need of my computer.
Can you post your DxDiag? I don't think it's a video issue but it's worth a shot.

what are the windows error and warning events reported right before the shutdown in the event viewer?
any clues in them?
(control panel/administrative tools/event viewer)
the only events im seeing are "critical", kernel power"
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
Usually, I've found a reliable rule of thumb is that a PC that flat out restarts or shuts down is due to one of two reasons; a power issue or a heat issue. I'm sure there could some other true underlying fault or just a flat out exception, but I've found this is almost always the case (especially when it's shutting down versus restarting). It's usually one of those two things.
Since it's reproducible under a given circumstance (starting Minecraft), but you have no issues elsewhere, I'd rule out RAM. Things are usually more random and less circumstantial with RAM errors.
Is your PSU okay? What make and model (not just wattage) is it?
Have you tested the CPU and/or GPU? (besides just looking at seemingly idle temperatures.) If either are overclocked, have you tried setting them to stock settings?
Neither are overclocked and i've got a coolermaster true 700w PSU. Opening MC is fine, it's literally the second that I touch foot in the game. Every time, no matter what, and only with minecraft. Doesn't happen with WoW, League of Legends, Any of my 100's of steam games, it's why I'm so baffled.
Opening MC is fine, it's literally the second that I touch foot in the game.
I know you think you are being informative, but I still can't figure out what you mean.
You run the launcher.
Select a profile.
Hit Play.
Select Single player..
Select a world and hit Play..
Crash?
The world loads..
Crash?
The world renders.
Crash?
You move..
Crash?
I agree with Princess Garnet, that if your computer just shuts off, no crash, no BSOD, then it is most likely heat or power. Right when the world starts rendering the GPU normally kicks into high gear, its power consumption and heat jump, the fan revs. If your PS is failing its output could drop under the extra load and cause a power monitor to detect an undervoltage situation. Heat isn't usually so fast to trigger.
If you want to chase a long shot, does it still crash if you mute the sound?
I will try the sound now, but yes, I can choose single player and select a world and hit play and then the screen immediately goes black as I land in the game, and then my comp auto reboots.
I don't get a chance to move, because it happens instantaneously.
I will try muting the sound now, I appreciate your new ideas.
Tried with no sound (muted) and it still crashed instantly.
When i rebooted the "windows has crashed from an unexpected error" box popped up, so I clicked more details and this is all it says

it says problem event name is "blue screen" but I never see a BSOD, it just turns black for a 1-2 second period and then immediately reboots. Hope this helps in anyway.
Some of the threads I found with this code reported solving it by flipping BIOS settings, others were replacing MoBo or GPU, i.e. hardware failure. Others thought that video driver issues could be involved. So still no single solution, but points to something GPU related.
For the longest time, I'd have issues with any driver version past 275.33 (TDR issues too), so I gave up and I stuck with it for a long time. Further down the road, I updated to 311.xx and it's been fine. Drivers can be crazy. I'd recommend trying completely uninstalling them and trying the last few versions before the latest and see if it changes anything.
It seems that either your video card itself or the drivers are causing this though.

ModeratorThis program is good for checking out what the bsod said (they never stay up long enough to read) http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html
Then i would look at monitering your cpu/gpu temps etc, make sure its not a heat issue.
If all is fine with temps i would run memtest+ http://www.memtest.org/
I'll run a memtest next.

the only events im seeing are "critical", kernel power"
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
There are 4 of those in the last 24 hours
Since it's reproducible under a given circumstance (starting Minecraft), but you have no issues elsewhere, I'd rule out RAM. Things are usually more random and less circumstantial with RAM errors.
Is your PSU okay? What make and model (not just wattage) is it?
Have you tested the CPU and/or GPU? (besides just looking at seemingly idle temperatures.) If either are overclocked, have you tried setting them to stock settings?
I don't get a chance to move, because it happens instantaneously.
I will try muting the sound now, I appreciate your new ideas.
When i rebooted the "windows has crashed from an unexpected error" box popped up, so I clicked more details and this is all it says

it says problem event name is "blue screen" but I never see a BSOD, it just turns black for a 1-2 second period and then immediately reboots. Hope this helps in anyway.
This would be why you don't see the BSOD.
Some of the threads I found with this code reported solving it by flipping BIOS settings, others were replacing MoBo or GPU, i.e. hardware failure. Others thought that video driver issues could be involved. So still no single solution, but points to something GPU related.
http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lockup-debug-how/63320-stop-0x116-video_tdr_error-troubleshooting.html
