Ever since 1.7 when I updated I went from 100-125 fps no optifine to 26-50. Even when it hits 60, it feels like 15-20 frames, and really choppy. I have to wait for terrain to load which, even after loaded, still lags if something updates. I can't even use redstone clocks just because of how laggy it becomes. My frames show 40 but it goes down to like 20-15 choppyness. Does anyone know if this is temporary? I mean my specs are pretty good, everything is worthy for new games. I can run Skyrim on ultra so Minecraft should be nothing. I am even feeding it 5 gigs of ram (out of 16) It is like the game does not even use the Graphics card inside my PC. If anyone has info, msg me!

That may actually be your problem. Google for how to make minecraft use your dedicated card.
For a quick fix, try reducing your video settings, and make sure Vsync isn't on.
