I need alittle help here, my son is desperate to play minecraft on the PC. Not sure what's up, but screen goes black after about 2-3 minutes while playing minecraft. Wife and I can be on the system all day, but as soon as my son tries Minecraft, display goes black and is nonresponsive. I have to turn off the computer manually and everything comes back to life with no errors upon reboot...
My system:
Windows XP, Dell XPS 400 w/2.8 processor, 2 gig RAM
video card - NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS
Things I've tried:
I removed the minecraft.exe file and also did a %appdata%, removed the .minecraft directory. I reinstalled the latest minecraft (think 1.7.2)... I updated to latest Java (version 7 update 45)... With all these changes still goes black... also did a Malware Bytes scan and made sure no bugs..
I'm at a loss here and have no idea what else it could be?? I figure it has to do with my video card, but it seems that card should play that game with no problem. It's not a very old card, replaced about 1 year ago.
Any help or suggetions would be muchly appreciated!!!!
