When I try to host a LAN game by going into single player and then making my world open to LAN, it works fine and my buddies can join. But for some reason when they host LAN worlds, I can't join. They can join eachothers' games, but it doesn't show up for me. I've tried disabling firewalls and some other basic stuff I read online, but none of that seemed to work. We are all on the same network, and like I said, it works when I host the game, but not the other way around. I'm really confused and I haven't seen people talk about this same issue anywhere else. So if you can help I would really appreciate it. Thank you.
It is a common problem for Windows Users. Make sure to disable the Firewall for Java. You can try using Direct connect option to connect to the lan.
However, the easiest way is to
Go to start in at the bottom left corner -> Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network and Sharing Center -> Connection (Right hand side) -> Connection in blue next to connection: -> Click on properties (Shield like) -> Click sharing on the top -> Check box 'Allow other network users to connect' -> Home network connect: click "Local Area Connection" -> Click "Ok"
