Every time i open my launcher it freezes at "Loading Profiles" and it just stays blank:Its driving me crazy and never loads anything after this point. On top of that, since its frozen I can't click on any settings Help or solutions would be greatly appreciated.ps I have AVG, I don't know if that matters
i would agree as your not even getting the splash news page.
also check your hosts file c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc
I disabled AVG and its still a no go. I did find the host file, but I don't know how to check it. I have web/coding editing software to open it, but I don't know what the script is suppose to look like, or what I am looking for. Could you elaborate?
just open it with notepad
if it has any lines mentioning minecraft delete them
this is the default hosts file
# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.

# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost
# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost
Host file is exactly the same, even c&p and then saved it just to dbl check. Its still not working. Splash news page is still freezing... even updated my java (both 32 & 64 bit). I've deleted the roaming app data & the .exe, emptied the recycle bin, restarted and still nada. I'm wondering if there's anything else that can be done T.T
Just got a second opinion for help, it was completly remove all java's in programs and features in control panel, then install java from link i just gave you.
then rename the current .minecraft and run launcher

ModeratorOT:- you'll get used to my replies here, my kitty avatar often fills the front pages of this section
Unfortunately there lies my biggest problem, the whole launcher freezes so I can't click on any of the tabs or options. Its quite frustrating :/
