Whenevr I play minecraft on my computer its usually laggy on singleplayer.
I have a sony vaio computer
The sony computer is 1080p full HD and its windows 7
It has 4GB of RAM
Minecraft fps average is around 35fps
Is there a way I can stop my lag for free and increase my fps without having to put my render distance to tiny, clouds off and smooth lighting off.
I would really appreciate if somebody helps me. I would like to enjoy playing minecraft more often without worrying about my crazy lag.
Well there is a mod called Optifine, which you probably know about. It gives more settings so you can lower the lag and quality without lowering it all the way down.
Also, If you have a lot of Windows or other games open when you play. Try closing out anything your not using.

Found your problem. 4gb is barely passable as far as modern games go. Download OptiFine, close background programs, decrease render distance, play in windowed mode (in that order). If you want higher, you're going to need to upgrade your RAM (and possibly your CPU/GPU if they are also low-power).
Have you tried turning it from fancy to fast? It worked for me.
Or listen to the above people. You know, they said good (better) stuff too.

My avatar-Madison Gotha. She knows various weapons, she's a mage/sage, and is somewhat immortal. Madison has the capability of taming and communicating monsters, a genetic trait passed down by her father. 26 physically, 1400-something mentally, and a Lofty Peakian/Zenithian mix. Doesn't really like being called an elf and hates being called human..
I might be Moderator, but don't bother treating me too special. And don't make tons of Ban Hammer jokes, please. Also, I'm an Off-Topic only Mod. Don't ask me to lock a thread or something if it's not in the off-topic

4GB is PLENTY. I could play Doom 3 with less than 1GB.
1.7 recently came out, and there is a new feature called "mipmap". If I have this on in the video settings, it makes Minecraft lag too hard and makes it unplayable.

He said is there a way to do it without turning down the render distance....
Here's a useful link: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/195065-drastically-reduce-or-even-get-rid-of-minecraft-lag/
