In the Launcher, click "Log Out" (bottom right corner of Launcher window.)
On the screen that pops up, if it gives you the option to Log out again, do it. If it says, near the top of the window, that you are logged in on another profile, just click the Log Out button here, as well.
Now, log back in and try to access multiplayer servers.
This isn't a solution, its called luck that you managed to log in, spamming the login servers with trying again and again isn't making the problem any better.
The best fix for the issue is to either play on 1.7.2 servers, single player, or wait for the mojang guys to fix it, remember minecraft isn't the only thing in the world, infact their is a whole world outside your house
