I recently got a new laptop with 8GB of RAM, and I want to use a 128x resource pack. Unfortunately for me, I can't seem to allocate more than 1625M of RAM. With 1625MB of RAM, it always runs out of memory the instant I enter a world with a 128x resource pack applied, and whenever I go over (I want to allocate at least 3GB) it always says that java cannot create the virtual machine. I looked in task manager, and only about 2% of my memory is being used, so Minecraft shouldn't have a problem allocating 3G. Can someone please explain to me what is happening and how I can allocate 3G of memory to Minecraft?
Alright, it turns out I only have 32 bit Java installed. I will install 64 bit Java from here http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
I will return back here with news
Okay, now I have another problem, I have both 32 bit and 64 bit Java installed, but Minecraft is still using the 32 bit one. I don't wanna get rid of 32 bit because my browser uses it, and I want Minecraft to use the 64 bit one. Is there a way how I can force it to use the 64 bit version?

Moderatoranyway, in the bottom part of the edit profile page there is a option to set were the Java install is.
change it from "C:/program files (x86)/java/jre7/bin" to "C:/program files/java/jre7/bin"
