I have a top-of-the-line gaming laptop, and I hear about people getting 250-300 FPS on Default, whereas I only get around 120. What can I do to improve my FPS? I installed Optifine, but it creates a new profile for some reason and even then I don't see an increase. Here are my specs:
Well, For one, the best case is to go to your "Options" Tab. There you will see multiple other tabs referring to sound, picture, etc. you want to go to the tab with video settings, You can do quite a few things to increase FPS, one is to turn graphics from "Fancy" to "Fast" and also lowering your Chunk Render Distance will also help greatly, some other small features can also help here and there, another important one is to go to "Performance" and change it to Max FPS. In some cases, lowering or muting volume has shown increased performance. Hope this helps Good luck

Thanks, guys! I will make sure to try all of these things and see if I get an increase.
30-46 fps all the time. Stupid optifine has nothing on me. My real problem is that in beta 1.7.3-Infdev I get around 89-104 fps on constant, but its so smooth that my game lags to hell, how to fix?
Also you don't need any help with your fps, if you get anything higher than sixty without mods/optifine, then you sir are epic.
120 FPS, whats not to like? Who cares if people have 250+ fps, they are just rich spoiled children.
