Minecraft won't open at all 1.7.2

I downloaded minecraft and every time I double click it to launch it, nothing happens. I've tried redownloading it from the website but it's the same problem. Nothing comes up at all. No error or anything

Edit: I have windows 7 if that means anything

Edit 2: Nevermind, found the problem. Had to make sure java was downloaded and updated
