Today I logged into minecraft and started playing, then I realized there was no sound. Obvious the first thing I did was to check if the sound was off, it wasn't. The next thing I tried was to change the minecraft version to 1.6.4 instead of 1.7.2, still had no sound. Then I decided to see if it was minecraft or my computer that had no sound, so i went and to youtube and sure enough it had sound which meant I knew it was minecraft not my computer. I got back on minecraft to see if the sound came back and it did, but not entirely. The sounds were all broken breaking blocks had the same sound as taking damage as well as many other messed up sounds.

I just decided after restarting minecraft a few more time as well as my computer that i should just get all the important stuff out of my .minecraft folder then delete it and reinstall minecraft. While the launcher was installing it I realized that it said

and it continued to say that for every sound in the game! Once that was all over minecraft launched of course with no sound.

What do I do I have tried everything I can think of and nothing works!

Breaking blocks
Damage
Falling
Creeper Hiss
TNT (Sometimes)

Missing? Its really annoying when PVPing because you can't tell when you get hit!
They said to delete 1.7.2.jar in the versions folder and then reinstall it.
I havent tried it yet so tell me if it works!

just play around with the java code.

I uninstalled and re installed the latest version of java and it still has no sound.
