I just downloaded minecraft again after being gone for a long time and am trying to connect to a server. Anytime I try to connect it gets stuck at "Logging in..." and then never moves forward.
I've tried:
1. Running minecraft as admin.
2. Disabling antivirus.
3. Putting PC into DMZ mode on my router.
4. Turning off windows firewall.
5. Removing everything minecraft related on my computer, then redownloading.
None of that seems to work, yet everyone else is able to connect to the server just fine. I also can't ping the server in my server browser, but I can ping it through a my pc command prompt just fine.
Doh... I was in fact using the wrong version. Sorry for the silly post. I haven't played since 2010. Thanks so much for the help.
Don't worry, it's not a silly post. 1.7.2 changed multiplayer significantly, meaning joining older servers won't actually throw an 'Outdated server!' message at you.

Anyone have any ideas?
