I logged on to minecraft this morning, and it told me to log in, when it usually goes strait to my account. So i did, and when i went to go on a server, ALL of them are GONE! I had like 8 servers that i would always go on, and they all just dissapeared. On top of all that, when i try logging in to a server (i re entered the ip) it says:
Internal Exception: io.netty.handler.timeout.ReadTimeoutException
It happened to me today, I logged in and ALL my servers on the Minecraft server list were gone! (I had A LOT.) I'm trying to remember and look up the IP's of the old servers and it is letting me get them back, but I'm just confused on why it all disappeared. I wasn't downloading any new mods or anything. I'm actually really sad about this.

Nothing is Impossible. The word literally says "I'm Possible"
The server.dat file can sometimes bug and straight up disappear, or turn into a server.dat.back file, just happens occasionally. This is why you backup.

I found a way to get them all back. Your server.dat file has probably been renamed like Gangsir said. if you change it back to server.dat all of your servers should be back. It worked for me and I hope it works for you. Good luck!
This is the only post I could find that was related to my problem. I looked, and my server.dat was a server.dat_tmp. I renamed it but my Minecraft servers are still gone. Should I reinstall Minecraft?
When renaming my servers.dat_tmp file into servers.dat it made the title servers and .dat so you could try adding an s to it, could fix the problem seeing how everyone is saying server not servers
That is bizarre, it just happened to me today. when to play on my Multiplayer server, and none showed up. Luckily (and i recommend everyone does this) i use Dropbox as my .minecraft folder, so i could restore the previous version. For some reason it got deleted by minecraft today. Restored to an earlier version and tada- back to good.

HELP!
Sire I inquire as I do with most, but do you mean to gloat? For is it truly such a tire to reply to the host with but a simple QUOTE?
Hi,
Those errors usually symbolize that the server you are trying to join has not been updated to 1.7.2.
Try looking for a 1.7.2 server and playing on that.
