I need someone to do an experiment for me, as i cannot do it myself.

please, if someone has the old launcher, the new launcher, and the new .minecraft file, backup your .minecraft, backup the new launcher, delete the new launcher, and then see if the new .minecraft works on an old launcher, and will let you play in 1.7. if anyone is willing to try, please pm me with the results or if you need me to clarify. thank you for your time.

I cant imagine the old launcher would not work for 1.7 but what would the point of this be? Why not just play Minecraft 1.7 in the new launcher as its intended to be? The new launcher is awesome.

because the new launcher requires runtime 1.6.0, which i can not obtain, as i cannot install it due to not having admin password

The launcher should work for all versions of minecraft. I mean why wouldn't it? All it does is execute a .jar file.

I'm pretty the old launcher wouldn't work, as it's only supported up until 1.5.2.

Can't play at school anymore? lol. Just ask the administrator to update their computers. They should be doing that anyway.

it is a school computer rented to me, and i guess ill have to see if i can request they update/install java on the computer
