(I didn't know where to put this) You know how the new launcher has a "Time Machine" that lets you play older versions? Well, what if I switched the version to Alpha? Since back then there was only (I think) a 4 world limit, and you couldn't name them, would my worlds stay there, and when I switched back to 1.7.2 would they be there still? Also, would the worlds get renamed to world 1, World 2, World 3 ect?

Yes they will stay there and not be renamed, as you can't play them in Alpha.
