Hello I'm new to the forums and to the game itself, and I'm having problems getting the game to run. I have been reading various topics here, as well as other places trying to figure out what the problem is, and how to fix it.
Seeing as I have never played Minecraft before, I do not have any game profiles and the game needs to update. I run the launcher, and the game begins updating the game files. I update to version 1.7.2, and once that is done, I choose a username and I click play but nothing happens - the launcher is as far as I get and the game won't run.
I have removed all instances of Java from my system, rebooted my PC and installed the latest Java version - Java 7 update 45. Upon some research, some people say that only java6 will run the game properly, but I did have that and it still didn't work. At one point I had both Java 6 and 7 on my PC, so I thought perhaps the game would run using either one of those.
My friend, has the latest Java 7 as well as Java6 update 31, and he has no problems running Minecraft. I don't understand why the game won't work for me at all. I'm getting really frustrated and I would be so grateful if someone could help me.I am running WIndows 7 32bit system.

Will I need to uninstall old drivers or something before I install this?
Also, what if I encounter problems with games, etc after installing the driver update? Other games I play work fine, and any other graphic- related progams I use work perfectly, just seems to be this one ( so far) that won't run.
I know I sound paranoid about updating the graphics card LOL, and I do realize it has to be updated as does anything else, I've just had my share of nightmares when it comes to computers and graphics >.>

That shouldn't happen if the update installed correctly. Worst case scenario being that it won't install and nothing happens at all. Your other games work fine now because they do not rely on OpenGL, which the driver you have now do not have support for.

Also, what if I encounter problems with games, etc after installing the driver update? Other games I play work fine, and any other graphic- related progams I use work perfectly, just seems to be this one ( so far) that won't run.
I know I sound paranoid about updating the graphics card LOL, and I do realize it has to be updated as does anything else, I've just had my share of nightmares when it comes to computers and graphics >.>

Retired StaffIn most cases no. It wouldn't hurt if you do. It really does not matter.
That shouldn't happen if the update installed correctly. Worst case scenario being that it won't install and nothing happens at all. Your other games work fine now because they do not rely on OpenGL, which the driver you have now do not have support for.
Updated it to 1.7.2 and the game opened!
I haven't tried actually playing yet since I'm waiting for my friend so I can play with him.
No idea what server he is on, or even how to connect to one, but I'm sur ehe can guide me through.
