Okay, so as the title states I have trying to install Minecraft on a flash drive. I put the minecraft.exe, made the correct batch file and ran it. Now after I typed in my login info and pressed play to download and play 1.7.2 in the development console it says a whole string like this:

[11:22:08 INFO]: Finished downloading E:\.minecraft\assets\sounds\records\chirp.ogg for job 'Resources': Couldn't connect to server (SocketException: 'Connection reset') but have local file, assuming it's good
[11:22:08 INFO]: Finished downloading E:\.minecraft\libraries\net\sf\trove4j\trove4j\3.0.3\trove4j-3.0.3.jar for job 'Version & Libraries': Couldn't connect to server (SocketException: 'Connection reset') but have local file, assuming it's good
As you can see, it is installing fine but it is really slow, does anyone have any help or advice to speed it up?
There shouldn't be a difference for downloading to your hard drive, or your flash drive.
Wrong. for your hard drive, the physical connection to the hd is faster, and direct. for the flash drive, it has to go through the connected usb connection, and usb is slower than the hard drive connection.
On subject, there is not much you can do, other than using usb 3.0 and having good internet.
