When ever I'm playing on Minecraft my frames will suddenly drop to absolute 0. I'm trying to do a let's play series on a amplified word but my frames keep dropping, does anyone have a solution or a fix for this? I've messed around with the settings and it gives me more frames but it still causes these enormous lag spikes which results in me having 0 frames per second.

amplified worlds do seem to be a mega resource hog, do you get the same kind of fps drop in a normal world?
do you get the fps drop as bad if you use vanilla textures?

If I use vanilla textures it comes up to the same thing. It's not as bad in normal world gens but my frames will still drop significantly. I'm waiting for optifine 1.7.2 to be released, hopefully that'll fix the issue but until than I want to find some sort of temporary/permanent solution.
it maybe just 1.7
your getting a better fps than i used to on a hd5770, make sure your drivers and java are fully upto date too, might help
I'll definitely check that out, thanks for the help. I don't think the frames matter, I lowered the render distance and got 408 frames per second and I still get the same issue with my frames dropping to 0. I used to have a better graphics card but I overclocked it and it over heated.

that could be an issue its not graphics card stress that minecraft does its processor speed that minecraft loves to take over. but thinking about the fact as you said before with it being 1.7.2 it can be pretty buggy. with doing a lets play im assuming youre playing a single player world no plugins addons or server world trying to connect to other places. id think you just have to test it and see what you get while recording 0 fps is like wtf i know. maybe its the cause of you loading new chunks? and you comp cant take the stress? load your world first and allow things to be easier for your comp to handle. while recording as long as u stay above 25 fps you should be fine

See I've already tried loading chunks ahead of time but it doesn't seem to solve anything and I don't think it's the fact that I'm loading new chunks, perhaps its minecraft saving? When I try recording I have about 120 fps

see the point is that you dont need anything over 60 FPS with anything youre playing. because with any tv or monitor thats as fast as it can refresh and thats how fast its able to see things. if youre doing 120 who cares thats fine anything over 60 fps is just excessive.

The same happens to me, I have a 2gb RAM server. Here's my story;
Basically every now and then when any player enters a certain area or goes a distance away from the spawn, they start freezing up and stuffs. This would happen on our old map a lot. So I regenerated the world and pasted in everything we had done. (before pasted, all was fine. After paste it was freezing again). So we had a NEW world and rebuilt all by hand in creative mode. I did a build with stained glass panes. Then it started freezing up, I removed them and changed them to normal glass panes and all was fine. (we have a mob trap). I noticed that if I leave the mob trap on (it has dispensers and water) and go a distance away from that, then it freezes. So I had to add an ON/OFF switch to stop the redstone from triggering. Now every now and then we start freezing up, ONLY very rarely now though. But I was fine, then logged back into the game like 10mins later and I started freezing constant, so I travelled back to the spawn and it stopped. I also thought that maybe it was a corrupted chunk, but then after the world reset. I knew it had to be a build or something.

That was LONG...
I hope 1.7.2 fix this.
Is it possible...? I'm having something (in another thread in this support forum) where my fps is going down in a specific area. I have a mob system that uses dispensers and water too. When walking around in this area (a long way away from the system) with the redstone turned off, I haven't noticed any freezes. With the redstone ON, I've noticed occasional sharp FPS drops. I'm not sure it is the mob farm, but what you're saying seems to be similar to my situation...

Well, he may have a moniter with over 60mhz of Refresh Rate, I know on my main computer I just got a new moniter with 144mhz refresh rate. But, for youtube purposes, cap your FPS at 30, Youtube's compression is only up to 30 FPS, it sucks I know, I want to see 144 FPS on my youtube videos but that will never happen...
