Launcher problems

I have not been able to run minecraft after 1.5. I have the new launcher 1.3.1 and the world opens up but the screen is instantly frozen. Anyone had this problem and was able to fix it? My kids are dying to play! I have a two year old Sony with Windows 7 and intel i3 processor.

what is your opengl version?
i think you have to have 3.0 or higher for it to work

show me your pc caracteristics ( ram, open gl version, java version, ...) and the text your launcher shows when you run minecraft.
