I have an issue with the minecraft launcher, the new one (whatever I'm supposed to call it). When I heard that you could change the home directory, I was overjoyed. I though that I would finally be able to have a simple(-ish) portable minecraft. However, I was extremely disappointed today, when I tried it out on a different computer (with a "home" directory from home on the usb) and the launcher asked me to log in. This made me realize that the launcher is still saving all of the Launcher files in the regular location, regardless of where the home location is set (I'm guessing that this is because the launcher ignores any profiles made until loaded). Which of course made me wonder whether I can change that (the launcher creating files in %appdate% all on it's own and instead posting them to the home or local directory), because It appears that the launcher will not give you that option. I was also really frustrated, because this issue means that every new computer I go on, the launcher will create a new .minecraft folder in %appdata% and ask me to log in. This is awful, because If i don't have internet I won't be able to play. WIth this I might as well use dropbox, the point of putting it on a memory stick is that I should be able to play without using the internet, by loading the game from my stick.
Anybody know how I would go about doing this? Maybe edit the launcher in some way?
P.S I'm posting this here, because as of now I have not made any changes to the launcher. Maybe some kind of batch file would solve the problem?
Ok, thanks for the reply! It seems to work, but there is one problem. It stops at the "unpacking" stage for like 10 to 15 minutes. I'm not sure if this is because my read and write speeds on the memory stick are slow (unlikely cause it's usb 3.0) or if it's some kind of bug... :/ Still not really worth using it, because I don't want to wait so long.
Nope, not that I know of. At least I didn't set anything up of that sort.I'm using a 32 GB memory stick from lexar with supposed usb 3.0 connectivity. This one I believe:http://www.lexar.com...-30-flash-drive

Or would this be considered a mod...
You still need to reconfigure each profile to use a different directory because they won't 'inherit' this APPDATA change.
