Hello, I have this bug where when I log into minecraft 1.7.2 my game lags to the max, then freezes. It also says something about opengl 2.1, But I don't know if that means anything about this error. Please help, I want to play the new minecraft 1.7!! thanks.

ya, im having almost the same problem, when my game was still in 1.6.4, it was running just fine on my laptop
(which is a brand new HP btw,)
but now since the update, after a few game sessions i started noticing a dramatic change in framerates.
ive tried using the new framerate meter in 1.7.2's display options, shifting it towards max even,
but im still getting some lagg.
how do we fix this??
contact me on this thread. and thanks for any help.

// I bet Cylons wouldn't have this problem.
I have a big problem with this as well...:(
The first few times after the update it worked but suddenly it started lagging, blocks wouldn't dissapear or dissapear and come back again, and some of the things I had recently built had random blocks dissapearing or moved to another location nearby.
Like one of the towers I had just built got 4/5t's of it cut clean of over and over. Now it lags and bugs so much I am not able to play at all...:/
Does anyone know how to fix this? Have never experienced anything like it on Minecraft before...
All of you, did you have to change graphics settings in 1.6? You will have to do it again, as 1.7 seems to ignore the old settings file. Shouldn't be too hard, just put everything to "Fast", "OFF", "Low", or whatever.

Unfortunately, Minecraft will require a video card that supports OpenGL 2.1 or over.
Your NVIDIA card, though, has OpenGL 1.3. You cannot update your OpenGL btw.
BUT, you could still play 1.7; but you've given a warning on the main menu that your card doesn't support OpenGL 2.1 or over for the far future (Minecraft version 1.8, otherwise later).
If you want to save yourself from the lag, try these XP drivers, but I cannot guarantee you that if it'll work or not.
