I got home from work today and when I logged onto my computer Java was wanting to update, so I allowed it to update; but afterwards it asked, as it always does, for me to validate using my browser, which I did. It said that it was blocked, that Firefox had blocked it because it was a known security risk. I figured the Java update I'd done was somehow bad and did a system restore back to before the update. Once my computer came back up again I tried to load Minecraft because I'd planned on playing. It gave me the question about "do you want to open this program, do you trust it, etc." like it always does, and I said yes, and then...nothing. I tried restarting, and still nothing. I downloaded Minecraft.exe and tried to launch it to reinstall, and the it's as if I'm clicking nothing at all.
I'm at a loss. I'm guessing it must have something (everything) to do with that Java update, but it was working just fine before I updated it, and system restore shouldn't have butchered it that badly.
Any help would be appreciated...I did like to play this game.
When I ran the command you asked about Java I got this:
error occurred during initilization of VM
java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/invoke/AdapterMethodHandle
Also, I did not get the DxDiag log because I do not trust an (unknown to me) program and the process outlined in the link does not work. The Win keys on my keyboard are apparently null because Win + R does absolutely nothing.
Is there any other way to aquire the needed information?
I went ahead and decided to download Java and reinstall it. Whether or not it's a seciurity risk, Minecraft now works, so if you need to lock this or whatever, that's fine.
Thank you for the assistance.
