So I noticed this started happening about two days ago. I figured maybe it was a bug or something and it would go away after a while. This problem occurs not only on servers I play on, but also in offline mode.
Now, before any of you say it, it's not my mouse. Whenever this problem comes up, I always try to click with my track-pad as well, and neither will work. Right-click, scroll, and everything else will work, just not my left-click. I can go into my inventory and create things with ease using left-click, but the second I go back to using my player, these problems arise again. Also, this doesn't happen if I just hold down left click after it worked once. It'll continue swinging, but I don't want to be destroying everything and breaking my tools all day. You can see how this would be incredibly frustrating, especially on a pvp server, and I will appreciate anyone's assistance.
This only happens in Minecraft, no where else.

P.S. This may be unrelated, but, I also get the following message sometimes while playing on a server,
Internal exception: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read Timed Out
Maybe that has something to do with this problem, maybe it doesn't.
I'll try to only bump this one more time, but I'm still desperate for an answer.
I changed the key from 'button 1' to 'F' today and it works fine on 'F.' But it's very annoying to play with that on. I was almost forced to change back. I was partly hoping that switching it back and forth would fix the problem, but to no avail. Button 1 seems to be broken or something, still the same as before. It happens on the trackpad and the mouse, so it's not the mouse with the problem and I know now that it's not the attack button. Just 'button 1' for whatever reason.
I'm taking the main factor is that you need a new mouse.
It only happens in Minecraft. Everywhere else it's fine. And, this would imply I would need a new track-pad as well. I strongly doubt the two would go out at relatively the same time.
Got a new mouse, Razr DeathAdder. It's really nice, and I was hoping that it would fix the problem. But it didn't. The left click still doesn't work the way it should.

No, it runs quite fast actually. Haven't had any problems in that area.

Learned it also happens in 'Sir, You Are Being Hunted' game. Not sure what this is. But it's really bugging me. Still looking for a solution.
