I have an issue where one PC cannot see LAN games in the multi-player listing. It can, however, direct-connect just fine, but I'd like it to be able to see games broadcast on the network.
My PC is in one room, and is the host PC. Another PC in the same room can see any broadcast LAN games fine. The PC having issue seeing broadcast games is in another room.
All of these PCs are wired. The host PC and the second PC that can see the broadcast games are in the same room, and there is a switch splitting the connection incoming to that room, but that should be a transparent factor. In any case, on a few occasions, the other PC that can see broadcast LAN games fine was hooked up in another room (and it was tried both wired and wireless), and it was still able to see the game either way just fine, so I don't think the switch is interfering any.
The PC having issues seeing LAN games did, at one time, see them fine, but that was before it had Windows installed again. This might be involved, but I don't know where to start looking. Again, it cannot see broadcast LAN games, but it can yet direct-connect to them. I don't know if that gives any clues.
If this is in the wrong forum, I apologize and it may be moved.
ok. minecraft's game detector SUCKS. im sorry but there is no way to fix this. you will have to direct connect. i would help but there is nothing i can do.
The PC that is having trouble is blocking the incoming game announcements that are being sent on the network.Ensure that the network is set as a "Home" network on the affected PC. This influences how much your computer's firewall will block.
I think the above reply might have it. At one point when there were internet and/or modem issues and it was reset, when the PC detected the "new" connection and it comes up asking you to choose the type of connection, it must had been set it to a private network, as that's what it appears to comes up as.
I can't find out how to resolve this, though. I have a feeling it's a simple fix in the networking section of the control panel, but that's never been my strong area.
On the networking Panel it will show your connected networks, and there will be a link next to it that says "home network", "public network" or "work network". Click the link and you can reconfigure it.
