Being a nerd is noting to be ashamed of. Who made the internet? Nerds. Who made computers and tablets? Still nerds. Who made every game you played in your life and ever will? Nerds, nerds, and more nerds. I am a nerd and I'm proud to be one.
Are you playing on a server? Because if you are, the server may have eternal day on, when the sun is locked, and there is never night. If you're on single player, I'm sorry. But there isn't enough to help you, unless you do what the post above me said, I don't know enough about that kind of stuff.

For all we could know is the gamerule called doDaylightCycle set to false instead of true.
Try typing in the command /gamerule doDaylightCycle true into chat and see if anything changes.
