I recently got a new graphics card- a GeForce 7900- to replace my previous one, which was significantly better, but was apparently rendered non-functional.
I'm having this peculiar graphics bug, which I would describe as "smeared" textures that stretch off into infinity. Despite reinstalling minecraft (though it turns out this problem is common with all my Java games, such as Starmade) and ensuring my drivers were updated, the problem persists.

From the information you have given, I assume either your graphics card doesn't like Java (unlikely) or your Java needs to be updated (more likely).

I updated Java (or maybe I didn't and I'm just an idiot who thinks he did), trying both the 32 and 64 bit Windows versions, neither of which have fixed the problem.
