Hello, I'm looking to see what the optimal RAM allocation for Minecraft is? Right now I'm using Magic Launcher (not mods except for Optifine and Rei's Minimap), and the FPS is stable and good. But I want to get the best out of my game without overdoing it. I'm also looking for some tips on how to improve FPS inside of the game.

Right now I can run on every setting set to Fancy, at Normal render distance (including max Smooth Lighting) at around 35-39 FPS, but I'd like to see if there's any way to up my FPS without getting rid of graphical-ness.

Here are my general specs:

Model: HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC

Processor: AMD A6-3400M APU w/Radeon HD Graphics 1.40 GHz

RAM: 6.00 GB (5.48 usable)

64 Bit OS (Win 7 Home Premium

Any tips and information is very much appreciated.

Hello! so, you have 6 gigs of ram, so, allocating about 1 GB for vanilla, perhaps 2 GB. Play around with it. oh, and try putting this into the JVM arguments box:

Thanks a ton! It really helped out a bit. An increase of about 5 FPS so far, allowing more memory usage is making it go up very steadily.
