Strange bug. Oceans completely frozen over.

Don't know if this is just my end or not, but on most of my maps (even old ones) have every bit of the ocean completely covered in ice. It's rather annoying since one of my bases is an underwater fort with the entrance covered in ice making it impossible to enter.

And I checked, the ice goes on for about 750 blocks or so, there is seemingly no end to it.

What does the biome show when you are on the ice? Press F3 to see, the biome is denoted by b:

Then that is the answer to your question. Newer versions of Minecraft may change certain biomes in old maps.
