I just moved my Save folder files to a new computer. Both on my old and new PC I was/am running 1.6.4, none of the snapshots, no mods, no cheats.
I moved my character into what simply appeared to be an unloaded chunk, and he fell into this unloaded chunk, where he sat suspended in a suffocating, apparently invisible, indestructible rock. Eventually I died, and of course all of what I was wearing and carrying was lost. This is, of course, a pain, but no big deal.
However, now I have a permanently unloaded chunk in my world. I have exited and re-entered the world, exited and reloaded my client several times. I have f3 + A'd and f3 + F'd, toggled different video settings.
Is this world permanently damaged? I can always re-copy the Save files from my old PC and lose the week's worth of work, I suppose, but I am hoping for any better ideas.
Interesting, looks like some chunks in your world has corrupted or damaged.
You could download MCEdit then extract it, run it, load the <YOURWORLDNAMEHERE>\level.dat; then click the MCEdit button on the top left, World Info; then try repairing chunks. If it fails, then the chunk is more than corrupted and thus is unrestorable.
You could prevent this by never ever turn off the computer or close Minecraft while the world is running. There's a chance it could corrupt the world files.

Thanks for the response. The chunk is in a somewhat sensitive location, one where I have built--not extensively, but still.
Also, one of the reasons I switched to a new PC is because the old one was running very hot . . . and shutting down in the middle of Minecraft, or work. Perhaps that's what caused the damage. As I mentioned, I was hoping to avoid having to recopy the Save files, but now I'm worried that those files are where the damage is coming from.
